Miss Ellie Walker, Niece of the town druggist, Fred Walker. Miss Ellie marked a beginning of many first for Sheriff Andy Taylor. Elinor Donahue was the only of any of Andy's girlfriends to receive credit in the opening credits of the show. Ellie was the first of several of Andy's loves. She was also the first of several to show Andy woman aren't the fragile little girls he thinks they are, always needing his protection but rather strong and even capable of being on city council. She only appeared in the first season of the show and only made 12 of the episodes. Yet she left a lasting mark for many fans of the show that feel she should have been the one for Andy
